A riddle

Pitted East against West and faith against reason,
The Greeks and Inquisitors took me for treason,
Born in Babylon, revered by the Brahmin,
A simple idea, but once not so common.
I’ve puzzled philosophers, scientists too,
I make the world buzz in a language of two,
Calculus is a chore but surely isn’t a sin,
Both nothing and everything, infinity’s twin.
